Putnam slide into the top ten of the Oklahoma 2017 Class with his ability to have a great effect on the game in so many different ways. He is not just a scorer at the Point. With the ball in his hands Putnam is an effective passer, defender, and rebounder.
This summer Putnam came off the bench for Oklahoma Run PWP at the Point. When Putnam entered the game he did not force a bunch of shots trying to make up for lost time on the bench, but instead worked at being the star of his role. Most games Putnam ended up with a stat line that would not stick out to the average basketball fan. However, Putnam’s stat lines of 6 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists on 12 minutes a game sticks out to coaches.
Last year Putnam had a breakout season at East Central leading them to the Class 5A State Tournament for the first time in quite some time. East Central needs Putnam to carry the heavy lifting scoring the rock. The versatility of Putnam allows him to be the go to scorer when needed, but also be more of a passing guard when he played with Oklahoma Run PWP alongside more talented players.
Putnam has received huge interest from many JUCO and Division II programs. The Division I looks are starting to come with Texas State showing love. The more schools that see Putnam play the more attention he will receive. Putnam has the talent to play at the Division I level. The work ethic of Putnam makes him a prime prospect at the next level.
Putnam will have a great chance to impress a Low Division I school looking for a combo guard in the spring. This summer Putnam proved in his time off the bench to be a very valuable player for Oklahoma Run PWP.
