Part 1: 2019 Prep Hoops Top 250 EXPO Standouts
Prep Hoops saw tons of prospects this past Sunday in Oklahoma City at the Prep Hoops Top 250 EXPO. This is the first installment of many elevations form the Prep Hoops Top 250 EXPO.
Kobe Burgess Ada 2019 Combo Guard
Burgess takes home camp MVP honors after a stellar performance in each facet of the camp. He brought great energy with high intensity all day long. At the Point Burgess did a great job of creating for himself and others. Defensively, Burgess dominated blocking shots, snatching steals and exploiting the passing lanes. Burgess made his presence known at the Prep Hoops Top 250 EXPO. He will be one to watch for years to come.
Julian Smith Sapulpa 2019 Point Guard
Smith had a great camp shooting the ball with great confidence from deep. One area Smith showed improvement in was seeing the entire floor and finding the open man. Many times in 5-on-5 play Smith was double teamed, but found his open teammate on the floor. From three-point range Smith is easily the best shooter in the 2019 Class. He is undersized slightly at the Point, but is young with time to grow. Some have put Smith as a Shooting Guard, but his highest potential as a player is at Point Guard.
Ricky Jones Yukon 2019 Point Guard
Jones is a shifty guard with good quickness. He did a good job of finishing in traffic. It will be interesting to see how Jones develops over his high school career. At one point Jones was matched up against Julian Smith in 5-on-5 play. Smith was able to have great success against Jones. At the Prep Hoops Top 250 EXPO Jones had success getting to the basket. Jones must get better at finishing in traffic around the rim. The quickness and pace Jones plays with help him to be a difference maker on the court.
Camryn Dennis Broken Arrow 2019 Point Guard
Dennis is an athletic, long, lanky Point with great upside. He still has to learn the game more and develop his overall game, but the potential for Dennis is big. He seems to have grown to around 6’2 over the summer. There is a smoothness to his game with the ball in his hands. The biggest thing Dennis must improve is his jump shot.
Dyson Plumley El Reno 2019 Wing
Plumley is every bit of 6’4 on the Wing with tons of upside. He is currently tabbed as the 8th overall ranked prospect in the Oklahoma 2019 Class, but has a chance to fly up the charts with his athleticism, skill level and size. On Sunday Plumley scored the ball well from behind the arc. He is a better passer than he gets credit for. Plumley must learn to channel his energy at times, settle down and make the easy play. Sometimes he gets going so fast things get out of control. The potential is unquestionably there for Plumley.
