Wilson Commits to Lehigh
Last year 2017 Guard Marques Wilson had a breakout season on the court with the Edmond North Huskies. As he prepares to head into his senior season Wilson will not have to worry about what college he is attending. Late Sunday night Wilson committed to Lehigh University.
The choice was easy for Wilson after taking his official visit to Lehigh this weekend. Lehigh has a good basketball program with great academics.
“It just seemed right,” Wilson said. “The style of play fits me perfectly. When we played pick up with the players it felt like I had been playing with them for years.”
Wilson is a combo guard that fits best at the two guard spot. With that said Wilson can handle the Point at times with his good ball handling skills and vision. Over the past year Wilson has developed his three-point shot into a consistent lethal shot.
Lehigh is getting a player with tons of upside, high basketball IQ, a great shooting stroke and a college ready physique. The entire school stood out to Wilson each thing in different ways.
“I really loved the campus on my visit,” Wilson said. “The weather was perfect and I know it is not always like that but the campus is amazing.”
Wilson was not the only player to commit Sunday night to Lehigh. Caleb Bennett a guard out of Missouri who played on the Under Armour Circuit with Oklahoma Run PWP also committed following his visit to Lehigh. Bennett is a Wing that fits right in with Wilson.
Lehigh has made national noise with C.J. McCollum making waves in the 2012 NCAA Tournament knocking off Duke in the first round. Of course McCollum is now a star with the Portland Trailblazers. Lehigh plays in the Patriot league, which has produced several first round upsets in the NCAA Tournament. Last season Lehigh posted a record of 17-15 on the year.
Wilson is looking to have an immediate impact at Lehigh. After making the decision last night Wilson is pleased to be able to focus on his senior year with the Edmond North Huskies.
“This is a huge weight off of my shoulders,” Wilson said.
