Goodman falls under the radar because of his remote location and he only was able to play one tournament this summer. The 2017 forward brings a toughness and skill level that is becoming more and more attractive in a more wide open college game.
According to Prephoops.com, Goodman is the #10 ranked post player in the state in the 2017 class.
Goodman has a strong low post game but he is also very comfortable on the perimeter where he can use his great passing ability to create opportunities for others.
His versatility on and off the floor would be an asset to a program. “I think I can bring a good all-around game to a college team and I think I could use my IQ to be a good leader,” Goodman said.
The Preston forward is aware that he must improve his ability to score from the perimeter and athleticism on defense. “Shooting and dribbling,” Goodman said. “Speed and lateral quickness and I also think someone can never be too good at defense.”
Goodman was a key contributor to a Preston team that made it all the way to the 2A State Championship but fell short.
He has big goals for himself and his team to be able finish the job. “I think my offseason work will show that my game is more diversified than last year and I can do damage other places than the post,” Goodman said. “I plan to lead my team right back to the state finals and take the gold ball home.”
Goodman has heard from the University of Dallas but he has not received any offers so far.
Goodman would be a valuable small ball four at the DII or NAIA level. He has the passing ability that automatically makes your offense better.
He is 6’5 but can rebound out of his area and has the toughness to bang with bigger posts. Preston should be on the list of places to hit for coaches this season who are looking for a skillful player with a great basketball IQ.
