Kentucky’s 12th-ranked 2017, Mitchell is hearing from a slew of low to mid-major Division I programs, and identified one in particular which could be the first to offer.
“I’ve got some interest from a lot of different schools. I’ve been talking to Radford a lot, and Morehead State, Wright State, UNC-Asheville, Furman, IUPUI, EKU, Denver, and some others,” said Mitchell.
“They’ve been all mostly texting and I’ve been getting a few phone calls, but I feel like Radford has been coming after me the hardest. They just tell me about the different opportunities that they can provide for me academically, and on the court.”
Mitchell added: “I just hope I get as many opportunities as a I can from different colleges from around the country.”
A good-sized guard with a nice build, Mitchell defined his playing style to PHKY.
“I think I excel at defense and my mid-range shot, and then just moving the ball and being a good team player,” said Mitchell.
“I’m really working on my 3-ball, and my ball-handling and making better decisions. And then just being more aggressive on the offensive end.”
After starting last season as a sophomore, Mitchell says his role will be dramatically different this winter.
“I’m basically the leader on the team and I’ll have to basically lead the team in everything just about so we can be successful on the court. And it’s going to be different than last year because we had eight seniors and I didn’t really have to lead us, but we’re going to be really young this year,” said Mitchell, who identified a personal goal of his.
“I’m trying to show how good I can actually be. I want to show my improvement — I’ve improved a lot over the summer.”
