And though he says he would play either sport in college, it’s football where he’s seeing more interest for the time being.
“I have more interest in football than I do basketball. I have an offer from Union and I have a visit with Lindsey Wilson and also Kentucky State — and those are the main ones on me for football,” said Grubb, who outlined his current hoops interest.
“Kentucky Wesleyan and Pikeville have contacted me, University of Charleston, and there’s a couple more that I can’t think of off the top of my head.”
For Grubb, it’s whatever school can offer him the best opportunity where he’ll end up — regardless of which sport it is.
“I just want to get my college paid for and be able to go to college for free, or close to it,” he said. “Just so my family doesn’t have to work their butts off to pay for my college. It doesn’t matter which sport, I love them both and would play either one in college.”
Grubb describes himself as a defensive-minded point guard who excels at making his teammates better. He averaged 15 points last season as a junior with the Cardinals, and will take on more of a senior leadership role this winter.
“My role is going to be a lot more of a leadership role. And we don’t have any big guys in the paint, and all five of us are going to have to rebound and box out. We’re going to have to move the ball well and play as a team if we want to make a run like we did last year,” said Grubb.
“I just want to win another district championship, and finish my high school career playing at Rupp Arena.”
