“Getting my first offer feels incredible,” said Shepherd. “It shows that all the hard work I have put in is paying off.”
Shepherd and teammate Kyle Dortch at Fort Gibson both now have offers from Southwestern College. At the Point Shepherd does a great job of distributing the rock. Defenses underestimate Shepherd’s speed at times, which allows him to get to the rim. Shepherd has improved his offensive game.
Shepherd has met the staff at Southwestern College and visited the college. He is excited for the future of the program.
“I really liked the coaching staff,” said Shepherd. “I like where they are headed in the future.”
As his senior year approaches Shepherd is preparing in hopes of making a deep playoff run.
“As of right now I am just focusing on getting physically stronger so I can help my team make another deep run in the playoffs,” said Shepherd.
The goals for next year at Fort Gibson are simple for Shepherd. Win the 2016-2017 Class 4A Gold Ball.
“My goal for next season is to definitely help bring Fort Gibson their first gold ball,” said Shepherd.
Shepherd is looking to become a leader at Fort Gibson. He wants to leave a lasting legacy after taking the Tigers deep in the playoffs a year ago. Last year Fort Gibson shocked the state upsetting Harrah in the opening round then going on to win in the semifinals to get to the Class 4A State Championship game.
Shepherd has been to the title game and will have the experience of the Big House under his belt. The experience Fort Gibson returns makes them one of the top teams in Class 4A and possibly the favorite.
Southwestern College is the first offer for Shepherd, but could kickstart his recruiting.Prep Hoops will continue to follow the recruitment of Shepherd closely.
