SMU sold Landrum on several different things.
“I felt like the staff was a genuine staff with a good mix of experience,” said Landrum. “The team seemed to love being at SMU and they were so inviting.”
Landrum is a 5’9 Point Guard that can do it all. The athletic ability of Landrum is through the roof. Landrum is a good shooter, but it is his athleticism that makes him a special talent.
This summer Landrum shined as the star of his role with MOKAN Elite. In the NIKE Peach Jam Landrum dominated off of the bench making his presence known on both ends of the floor.

The next week Landrum continued to play at a high level at The Eight in Vegas. He started at the Point with Trae Young playing for USA Basketball U18 team. It was in Vegas that Landrum made sure schools from across the country were aware of his scoring talents.
The location of SMU and offensive system played a large role in Landrum deciding SMU was the spot for him.
“I like the fact that the yare in a pro city,” said Landrum. “The freedom style of offense they play and they have been very competitive for the past few years.”
Landrum has a special bond with Assistant Coach K.T. Turner. The connection Landrum has made with Turner over the recruitment process was also very key in his choice.
“I am extremely excited to play at SMU,” said Landrum. “I have developed a bond with on of the assistants, K.T. which means a lot.”
Landrum will have a chance to have an immediate impact at SMU as a freshmen. With Landrum’s commitment SMU has landed an Oklahoma player the past three years. Owasso standout Shake Milton was the first player in recent years to commit. Dashawn Mcdowell followed suit last year at Southeast and now Landrum joins the Mustangs.
Oklahoma now has three prospects in the 2017 Class committed to schools. Brady Manek to Oklahoma and Marques Wilson to Lehigh are the other two.
