East Central has been the best Division II program in Oklahoma for the past couple of years. The addition of Hines adds to their great talent pool they already have on campus. Hines is excited for his future at East Central.
“I was very excited to commit to East Central,” said Hines. “It’s a great school and a program on the rise. They have already won a conference championship and I want be a part of that. To be able to do all of that and to get into the national tournament and win.”
The East Central staff was very key in Hines pledging his commitment to the Tigers. The style of offense East Central runs also played a factor.
“Just the style they play and the coaches sold me,” said Hines. “I feel like having a good relationship with your coaches is key in being successful and I just feel really comfortable with Coach Havens and Coach Hill.”
Hines is a true Point Guard with the skills to do a little bit of everything. He catches opponents off guard with his quick left to right crossover. The shot of Hines makes him a scoring threat to go along with his craftiness that allows him to excel at getting to the rim. The best attribute of Hines is his feel for the game. He does an outstanding job of running the show at the Point.
Hines has alleviated any pressure he had heading into his senior year with his college choice out of the way. With his final year at Fort Cobb approaching he is happy to have the weight of a college decision off of his shoulders.
“Getting this sort of out of the way feels like weight off my shoulders,” said Hines. “I don’t have to stress or worry about anything now moving forward into my senior year. I can focus on winning another state title in basketball and a couple in baseball hopefully.”
