Spending the summer with the Oklahoma Wolfpack, Harvey has shown strides of improvement with the 17U ball club. The 6’3” guard has always shown versatility on the wing but Harvey’s head coach, Anthony Baker, says he is filling out his potential.
“Romio has always played with high energy,” said Baker. “He improved in many areas but the most improved areas were defensive rebounding from the guard position and the ability to create for others on offense. His number one asset is he is a competitor every time he steps on the court whether it’s practice or a game he brings all he has.”
Harvey is an aggressive player with a nonstop motor. He’s at his best when when in the open floor and driving the lane. He uses his strength and length to finish around the rim. Defensively, Harvey can be nightmare for other guards with his length and lateral quickness.
With his Grassroots day behind him, Harvey must now look forward to his final season at Lawton Ike, a top contender in Class 5A Coming into his final Harvey has a handful of goals that he plans to chip away at.
“When its all said and done I would like to earn a full ride scholarship offer to play college ball and to make All-State,” said Harvey. “Some goals that my team has established is to be the #1 seed going into the state tournament & win the state championship. We feel like anything less is a failure.”
All of these goals are within Harvey’s reach. Throughout the summer he has picked up interest from UCO, Arkansas Tech, Harding , Cameron, Bethel, and Langston. Air Force also actively recruited Harvey throughout the live period.
Throughout the recruiting process Harvey has seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. He uses that experience to determine what he is looking for in his next playing destination.
“I just want to go to school and play ball so the location doesn’t play a factor,” said Harvey. I’m really looking for a coach who I can trust and will give me a fair chance to play. All I want is an opportunity to make an impact. If I get the opportunity Im confident in my ability to capitalize”
Harvey is projected as an Division II or Division III player who could make an impact immediately.
