“Saginaw Valley (State) shows interest, Davenport shows interest, Concordia (Michigan) shows interest, Dearborn, and there’s a couple more schools,” said Scarber.
“I’ve talked on the phone to a couple of them, Saginaw has come to our gym a couple times, and Davenport has been talking to my head coach.”
Still with no official offers, Scarber — PHMI’s 38th-ranked 2017 — is remaining optimistic about his recruitment.
“I’ve been trusting in the process so far, so this year is going to be huge for recruitment,” he said. “I’m trying to do everything I can, like send out highlight tapes and just try and keep in touch with coaches, and try and get some interest and an offer.”
As he heads into his final high school season, the self-described pass-first point guard says he’ll have to score a little more than he’s had to in year’s past.
And the fourth-year varsity star will focus on leadership too.
“We had a couple key players that transferred out, so I’ll have to score a little bit more that I have in the past,” said Scarber. “I’m also going to need to be a distributor, and I’ll try my best to get my teammates the basketball. And another goal of mine is to just get into college for free.”
