He finished the season with a list of accolades, and rightfully so after he averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game.
Now that he knows how good he can be, Allen — PHK’s 3rd-ranked 2019 — has some specific goals for his sophomore season.
“Freshman year was definitely fun. I didn’t really have any goals going into freshman year, so I was just kind of playing and everything kind of found its place. I think I blew up and got more noticed, so that was definitely a good thing,” said Allen.
“Going into sophomore season I’ve got some goals. I was district MVP last year and I hope to get that again. And I was second team all-region, so I’m looking to be first team this year. And then I was all state honorable mention, so I’m hoping to get on the first, second or third team.”
A sharpshooter with some great size and a decent handle, Allen defined his playing style to PHK.
“I’d say I’m pretty much a shooter, but my handle is pretty good. I always scrap for rebounds, and just try and help my team. I need to just work on not taking pays off,” said Allen, who recently wrapped up his 15U season with Hoop Dreams.
“I thought I fit in pretty good. I’m more of a go-to player on that team. We were winning a lot, and I thought I played pretty well this summer,” he said. “I was happy with it.”
As for his recruitment, he still has three years left for that to materialize, he’s just focused on the process right now.
“I’ve had a couple letters from Xavier, but that’s really it,” said Allen. “I think about it, but I’m just trying to stay focused on getting better.”
