Today, Prep Hoops begins to introduce you to the top three prospects in the Oklahoma 2020 Class. Traejon Davis kicks the three part series off. Davis is an intriguing 6’4 Wing that has etched his name in the top three of the 2020 Oklahoma Class.
Davis is a scoring wing with the ability to get a bucket in all three phases of the game. He still has some areas to work on, but is on track to become a special talent. The work ethic of Davis shines through when you watch him play on the court. He never takes a play off and is always looking to make a play for his team.
Recently Davis went to the CP3 Rising Stars camp. At the camp Davis learned valuable tools as a player. Davis is one of the best players in his grade in Oklahoma, but he noticed the talent pool in his class across the country is special.
“At CP3 camp I learned nothing comes easy,” Davis said. “There are a lot of good kids out there and it takes hard work to succeed. I also learned where I am on a national scale so I can gauge my progress.”
The CP3 Rising Stars Camp was an eye opening experience for Davis.
“The CP3 experience was very different than anything I have seen before,” Davis said. “The high level competition was great and I took away many tips to improve my game.”
Davis held his own on the national stage as the only Oklahoma 2020 prospect to make the Top 40 game. In the Top 40 game Davis scored in double figures on 50% shooting from the floor. The CP3 Rising Stars Camp was an opportunity for Davis to show he can play at an elite level and he did just that.
Davis won’t be seen this next year as a freshmen in the OSSAA because he will be playing for his homeschool team hoping to win the Homeschool National Championship.
“Some of my goals are to keep getting better over the next year and win a National Title with my homeschool team,” Davis said.
In recent years Oklahoma has been loaded with very talented guards. Often though they are not tall enough to play on the wing at the Division I level. Davis won’t have a problem with height at 6’4. Now it is up to him to continue to improve and stay in the top tier of the Oklahoma 2020 Class.
“I have always been taught to build on my strengths and work on my weakness,” Davis said. “I am focused on getting in the gym as much as I can. I want to get up more shots, spend time in the weight room and work on drills everyday.”
Playing homeschool basketball Davis may fly under the radar next year in Oklahoma. But don’t be surprised if you hear his name in March at the Homeschool National Tournament. Davis is a bright, hardworking and talented 2020 prospect with great potential.
