Thompson will be seen this fall on the basketball court at Booker T. Washington. As a freshmen Thompson will likely see the floor off of the bench for the Hornets. Thompson is a sharp shooter from three-point range with an exceptional feel for the game.
Growing up Thompson has always been around the game. In many ways Thompson is a sponge soaking up the knowledge he has been around on the court.
Recently, Thompson was invited to the CP3 Rising Stars Camp. The camp is a national camp for the top incoming freshmen. Thompson took away many good things from the camp.
“The camp was a great experience for me,” Thompson said. “To have the opportunity to compete against some of the best players in my class was definitely a fun experience. I’m so thankful for the chance that I had to attend the camp.”
For most of his early basketball career Thompson has been the best player in the Tulsa metro area for his age. The CP3 Rising Stars Camp was also good for Thompson to see how he stacked up against the top talent across the country.
“The thing that I learned the most is there are so many great players all over the country,” Thompson said. “All have the same goal of being the best player they can be. Because of this I must continue to improve and get better everyday.”
The sharp shooting skills of Thompson shined through at the CP3 Rising Stars Camp. One of the things that helped Thompson perform well was he knew a lot of the drills they ran at the camp. Overall the CP3 Rising Stars Camp was a great way for Thompson to evaluate himself to see what he needs to get better at heading into his freshmen season at Booker T. Washington.
“I’m focusing on getting stronger and healthy,” Thompson said. “My knees have bothered me the whole summer from growing which is good but can be painful at times.”
Thompson is excited to step onto the high school stage in Class 6A with Booker T. Washington.
“My goal next year at Booker T. Washington is to contribute to the team in whatever way I can,” Thompson said. “The ultimate goal is to win a championship. So however I can help to achieve that I’m ready.”
As a freshmen it is always good to have older guards to look up to. RJ Fuqua will be a great player for Thompson to look up to at the Point for guidance and leadership. Expect big things from Thompson throughout his career at Booker T. Washington.
