Haywood stands at 6’5 with a long wing span that allows him to effect passing lanes, block shots and finish over shorter defenders. On the court Haywood plays with passion and great energy. The potential for Haywood to be a standout player at the next level is certainly there.
Brewster Academy is regarded as one of the best Prep schools across the country. Brewster has captured four National Prep Championships since 2010. Also, the program has won five NEPSAC Class AAA Championships since 2008.
Jason Smith enters his 16th year as the Head Coach at Brewster Academy. Haywood will have a chance to compete against some of the top players across the country. Academics was not the reason for Haywood attending Brewster as he is a qualifier in the classroom with good grades.
This summer Haywood performed at a high level with the OKC Storm. He dominated the competition at the GASO in Dallas and the Hardwood Classic in Kansas City. Most players don’t have near the experience Haywood does against national competition. The summer going into his senior year Haywood had a great year in the NIKE EYBL with Athletes First (Team Griffin). Over the summer of 2015 in the EYBL Haywood averaged 12.7 points per game and was top ten in steals.
Prep Hoops will continue to follow Haywood throughout the year as he attends Brewster Academy in New Hampshire.
