Young is widely regarded as an elite scoring Point Guard. The time has come to also consider Young an elite passer as well. Throughout the weekend in North Augusta, South Carolina Young dominated showing the nation he is arguably the best overall Point Guard in the country.
Many have Trevon Duval listed as the top Point Guard in the 2017 class, but after this weekend if nothing else Young has closed the gap. The averages for Young at Peach Jam were remarkable posting 27.6 points, 7.5 assists and 3.3 steals per game. He shot the basketball over 55% from the floor at Peach Jam. Following the Championship game Young was named the Co-MVP with teammate Michael Porter Jr.

Young is the first Oklahoma player along with Elijah Landrum to win Peach Jam. Most people in Oklahoma are unaware of the Nike Peach Jam. It is the event grassroots basketball revolves around with the best Nike squads coming from across the country to play in front of hundreds of college coaches and scouts.
With the lights shining bright Young showed out elevating his game to another level. From media row you could hear legendary college coaches in awe of the brilliant play of Young.
He may not know it yet, but what he was able to do yesterday will have a lasting effect on Oklahoma prospects for years to come. Young has paved the way for younger players in Oklahoma to be able to receive recognition on the national stage. Over his high school career Young has worked non-stop on his game and it is paying off.
In the championship game Young rose to the challenge of facing Quade Green one of the top Point Guards in the country. Not only did Young out play Green, he dominated him. Green was held to just 9 points, 6 assists and 4 turnovers. Young cherishes big games on the court making the most of each opportunity. In the biggest game of Young’s early career he answered the call with a double-double scoring 28 points with 11 assists and just 2 turnovers.
The state of Oklahoma had a great basketball year with the Thunder going to the Western Conference Finals, Oklahoma Sooners going to the final four, Mid-America Christian University winning the NAIA Division I National Championship, Randall University winning the NCCAA Division II National Championship and now Young and MOKAN Elite winning the Nike Peach Jam. Young is leaving a lasting legacy in Oklahoma basketball. His career is just beginning, but at seventeen years old Young is paving the way for youngsters across Oklahoma.
