The Suitland, MD native, who recalls playing the game since the age of 6, is a tough, downhill-type guard who is always in attack mode.
“I’m gonna attack the rim hard every time. Even if I miss the first bucket coming down I’m gonna keep on going at you,” Tabbs explained. “I’m a tough defender. I can also pull up for the jump shot.”
As he works to become more consistent with his jump shot and continue to tighten his handle, Tabbs has his sights set on closing out the summer strong with his AAU club.
“We gotta get this championship this summer,” Tabbs stated. “In order for that to happen, we have to play as a team.”
Towson, St. Louis, Penn State, and James Madison have each offered scholarships to Tabbs this summer. Saint Joseph’s, George Mason, and Clemson have expressed interest, and could be the next schools to offer him. Tabbs recently took an unofficial visit to Towson. He also visited Penn State during their elite camp. Schools admire Tabbs’ explosiveness and his ability to consistently get in the lane and create.
“They like the way I attack the rim. I believe that’s my thing. That’s what I do as a point guard,” said Tabbs. “I can raise on somebody and you won’t know it.”
As summer ball comes to a close, and the high school season prepares to get underway, look for Tabbs to make a major impact on both ends of the court for an up-and-coming Ryken team.
