Still, he wouldn’t mind seeing some more serious interest come his way this summer — so far he’s just seen introductory letters.
“I haven’t gotten any calls or texts or anything, and I haven’t been invited to any elite camps. I’ve gotten a couple letters so far, and that’s it; Davidson sent me a couple, Virginia sent me one, Boston University, Detroit, and Miami of Ohio,” said Kiesler.
“It’s mostly just questionnaires. And then Davidson sent me one asking me about my schedule.”
Kiesler added: “I know it’s not a big thing because I’m just going into my junior year. But it’s still something that I hold in pretty high importance because I’d like to play at the next level. So I’m hoping to just get my name out there this year and then I’ll have a whole year to get more interest and offers and stuff like that.”
A true post, Kielser is working to develop an outside shot this offseason – he’d like to become a more versatile threat.
“I’m pretty good in the lower post and I have a pretty good mid-range, but I need to work on my outside shooting, especially if I want to play at the next level,” said Kiesler who will play with G3 Rising Stars 16U this summer.
After that it’s back to St. Xavier, where it will be his team to lead as a junior this winter.
“Last year I was just a sophomore, and I started but I wasn’t the main player,” he said. “We lost some seniors and now coach is really looking for me to be the leading scorer and leading rebounder, and I think I’m ready for the task.”
