He says last offseason he received some interest from one Tennessee Division I school, but has not heard much since then.
“I haven’t heard anything this year yet. Last year my coach said he got a phone call from Lipscomb about me, but I haven’t heard anything this year like that,” he said. “I have received quite a few elite camp invites though. I got a Northern Kentucky invite, and some exposure camp invites more than anything else.”
With all the time and investment spent in gaining exposure during the offseason, Taylor is hoping it all pays off with some added interest and maybe an offer or two this summer.
“I know my recruitment is important, so for me just to get some interest and maybe an offer or two it would give me some confidence,” he said. “And it would show that all the hard work and all this money my parents are spending to get me some exposure is really paying off.”
The good-sized wing explained to PHK what it is he’s best at, and how his height and wingspan work to his advantage.
“My strength is my shooting; with my wingspan and everything some of the people I play against are a lot shorter than me. So I’d say shooting is a strength and then being able to see over and read the defense,” said Taylor, who will be playing with Hoops Dreams this summer.
He says what he’ll be focusing on is his work ethic, and giving max effort on every play of every game.
“The main thing for me this spring was my work ethic. The last few tournaments I played in I thought I played very well, and it was because of my work ethic,” said Taylor. “So that’s a goal for me, is the last few tournaments in July — no matter who we’re playing — to give 110 percent the whole time I’m on the floor. And then I think I’ll stand out.”
