He’s rolled that momentum into a good spring for Indiana Elite followed by a great start to July. He dropped 24 points in a win against Wisconsin Playground Warriors Friday night and helped Indiana Elite finish with a 3-1 record. That strong play has resulted in some big interest from a variety of schools and a couple of offers as well.
C.J. has recently been offered by both Winthrop and New Orleans and also has interest from Xavier, Cincinnati, Ball State, Northern Kentucky, Iowa and Wright State. He mentioned that Iowa and Ball State are showing the most interest along with Winthrop and New Orleans. He wants to find a schools that fits him academically, fits his style of play, has a great coaching staff and has a good college atmosphere as well. He doesn’t currently have any visits planned, but that could change going forward with several local schools interested.
C.J. models his game after Kevin Durant, in that he wants to be a versatile offensive player. Scoring, basketball IQ and passing are what he mentions as his strengths. However, he wants to get stronger and improve his vertical as well going forward. He’s hoping he can make strides in both of those areas during July as well as get more college interest and help Indiana Elite win as many games as possible.
Covington Catholic has been one of the state’s most consistent programs this decade and that doesn’t look to end anytime soon. C.J. was their second leading scorer a season ago and will likely be more of a threat this coming season. He is focused on doing whatever it takes to help his team win and wants to improve his game as the season goes along. Their ultimate goal, as always, will be to win a state title, but before that they will need to get out of an always tough 9th region. C.J.’s offensive versatility and willingness to do what it takes to win will help them towards both of those goals and he should be one of the breakout players in the state this coming season.
