The process of waiting to receive your first scholarship offer can be daunting to say the least. Brantly Thompson does not have to wait anymore after getting a call for Oklahoma Baptist on Sunday night heading back from Dallas.
Thompson earned his first scholarship offer from Oklahoma Baptist following a fantastic showing at the Texas Great American Shootout. Thompson says he won’t forget the call.
Thompson has been regarded as a Wing that excels at getting to the basket and making smart plays on the court. He elevated his game this weekend at the Great American Shootout with stellar shooting from behind the arc. Becoming a better overall player on offense is one of the many things Thompson has been working on this summer.
“I want to improve all areas of my game,” Thompson said. “I want to be a complete player offensively and defensively. I’m going to try to improve my ball handling and limit my turnovers.”
When Thompson is shooting the basketball at a high level he is tough to stop at 6’3. He uses the pick and roll very well. It was noticeable that Thompson has increased his foot speed allowing him to defend quicker athletic guards better.
Thompson has had a great high school career at Tuttle. He hopes to get back to the State Tournament and of course win the Gold Ball. Thompson wants to be remembered at Tuttle.
“I would like to be remembered as one of the best players to play at Tuttle but more importantly as a really good teammate and positive leader,” Thompson said. “I want to help my teammates be better.”
OBU is Thompson’s first offer, but don’t expect it to be his last. He has turned the corner and is playing very good basketball.
