Nelson, who played at Cordia School last season, played a dominant role in the Lions’ success. The athlete averaged 16.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest and also dished out a significant amount assists. This year, Nelson has not decided where he will attend, but he says he wants to, well, win.
“This high school season, my goals are to come in and win a lot of games, and maybe even a State Championship,” Nelson stated.
Nelson played for New Heights out of New York on the AAU Circuit this summer. He says he could’ve played better.
“I played with New Heights out of New York this year,” Nelson told me. “I feel like I could’ve had a better summer, but right now I’m just working on getting stronger and sharpening up my weaknesses.”

“In the classroom, I’m a decent student,” Nelson said. “I have a B average.”
Nelson currently holds scholarship offers from Middle Tennessee State, St. John’s, Hofstea and Drake and has been shown interest from Monmouth, Robert Morris, Wright State, St. Joseph’s, Texas A&M and Indiana, and says that more coaches and programs should start to reach out because he gets his teammates involved.
“My game should catch college coaches’ eyes because I am a 6’5 lefty point guard, who can score the ball just as much as I can get my teammates involved,” Nelson noted.
