One of the key pieces in the playoff run for East Central was Tyree Malone. He is a 5’10 guard with the ability to score the basketball at a really high level.
Malone is a 5’10 Point Guard that does a lot of things well on the floor. Over the Spring and Summer Malone has been playing with Oklahoma Playmaker Express Elite. He has really improved over the past year turning into a reliable key scoring option. He is a high volume scorer with a good handle and consistent jumper.
“My goals for July are to score at high level,” Malone said. “I’m hoping to get some coaches attention.”
Malone is working to improve his basketball IQ on the floor. He also wants to make defense a priority.
“I want to improve my decision making at the Point,” Malone said. “Defense is an area I have been focusing on as well.”
East Central returns their two key scorers from a year ago Burke Putnam and Malone. The Cardinals tasted the State Tournament a year ago, but are looking to advance and contend for the Gold Ball.
My goal for next year at East Central is to make it back to state and have a great experience with my teammates, Malone said. “We want to turn some heads.”
Making State a year ago has fueled East Central and Malone. He feels the run to State last year has prepared him for his senior season.
“It felt really amazing last year to make State,” Malone said. “The intensity level is raised and I know what to be prepared for and work on.”
Malone projects as a JUCO to Low Division II prospect. He can heat up in a hurry from deep. The skills Malone has with the ball in his hands will attract several small schools in Oklahoma.
