“The only letter I’ve received is from Kent State University,” said Smith. “But I don’t really focus on that right now. I want to go to college and play, but I have another two years – so I don’t focus on it too much.”
The junior-to-be defines himself as a true pass-first point guard, with the ability to make his teammates better.
“What I do best is get everybody involved in the game, and I have a nice pull-up jump shot. What I need to work on most is my left hand,” said Smith, who played this spring and summer with Kentucky Heat.
“We played pretty good this summer. My role was to get everybody together as a team. I think I passed the ball very well, and I scored a lot too.”
After what he described as a “hard” sophomore season with Red Hawks, Smith is eager to get back for his junior season and make a difference.
“My sophomore year was hard because I was young and I wasn’t experienced, I had trouble getting the other guys to listen to me,” said Smith. “But I’m excited for this year, I think we’ll be pretty good. I’ll be the starting point guard this year, and I’ll need to score the ball way more than last year.”
