There is just one area Division III school which is recruiting the Butler senior-to-be, but that’s it right now.
“I’ve just heard from Berea College in Kentucky and that’s it. They’ve just been texting me,” said Montgomery.
“I think I’m under-the-radar. I think I’ve proven this offseason that I can play with the best competition and go toe-to-toe with them.”
Montgomery was good last season as a junior, averaging 12 points per game. This winter he says he will focus mostly on his leadership abilities.
“I think my coach is going to look for me to step-up and be a senior leader, especially with all the younger players we got,” said Montgomery, who will also contribute with his playmaking and shooting.
“I like to penetrate and get my team involved, and my biggest strength is I can really shoot the ball well. And defensively I can stop my man from scoring by moving my feet well.”
In the meantime, Montgomery will finish up his 17U summer with Team Vision.
“I led my team in scoring and assists this spring so I thought I played really well. And my goal this summer is to just pick up some more interest from other schools,” said Montgomery.
“I just want to pick up some interest over the next three weeks and get my name out there, and hopefully that can carry into my senior season.”
