Preview: Prep Hoops Finale 17U Pool C
The Prep Hoops Finale features teams from Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and Louisiana. The Tournament will kick off on Friday night at Putnam City High School. The two courts at Putnam City High School will feature the 17U and 16U divisions throughout the weekend.
The 17U Pool C might be the most competitive of any pool at the Prep Hoops Finale in Oklahoma City this weekend. It features Southern Colorado, Game Changer Hoops and Playmaker Express Elite.
Playmaker Express Elite
Playmaker Express Elite is loaded with talent with Burke Putnam joining their squad for this final weekend. Tyreece Berry will lead the way at the Point. Berry does a great job of distributing the ball, but also making teams pay from deep. Tyree Malone is an intriguing guard at the next level he will be a Point Guard, but with this team he does a little of everything. Malone is one of the most under the radar players in the 2017 Oklahoma Class. Brooks Haddock is simply a flat out scoring machine from the wing. He is just a 2018 prospect that could really blow up over the next year and a half. Playmaker Express Elite has the most talent in Pool C.
Game Changer Hoops
Game Changer Hoops flies under the radar at times in Oklahoma. They are a very well coached organization that features a few players that will play in college. MJ Smith is one of my favorites to watch on this team at combo guard. He can do so many things with the ball in his hands or playing off the ball at the two. He projects around NAIA D2 to JUCO out of high school and could really develop into a special talent. Smith is the guy to look at with the rock in his hands, but Read Streller inside is the man to look at. Streller is every bit of 6’8 in the paint with tons of potential. Game Changer Hoops will have their work cut out for them, but they could surprise some people.
Southern Colorado
Out of Colorado, Southern Colorado is a very intriguing squad matched up with two Oklahoma opponents in pool play. Southern Colorado features a mixed team of 2017 and 2018 players. Pierre Taylor leads the way at the Point with great quickness and athleticism. Marcus Winston is a great slasher to the basket at the Wing spot standing at 6’6. Nieyeme Williams is a smaller guard but can shoot the ball lights out from behind the arc. For his size Williams sees the floor very well, but what coaches will love the most about him is his expert defense.
