Continue ReadingBrooks Haddock is one of the most under the radar players in the 2018 Oklahoma Class. He is a very crafty guard with the talent to put the ball in the basket many different ways.
He is playing up this grassroots season with Playmakers Express 2017 squad. Playing up is already benefiting his game as he goes up against higher-level competition across the region. Haddock moves will without the ball allowing him to get easier looks at the hoop.
He meshes well with Playmakers Express quick guards as a shooter on the perimeter. With that said Haddock is much more than a 6’3 shooter. He has craftiness to his game that allows him to create with the ball as well. Haddock has a good first step, which allows him to get past defenders despite not being the fastest player on the floor. Many times Haddock drove to the rim and finished through contact or was fouled and sent to the line.
An area of this game that was surprising a bit on Saturday was his work on the glass. Haddock’s constant effort on the floor allows him to be a better rebounder than you would think at 6’3.
Haddock is not the most athletic wing, but certainly isn’t a stiff that just shoots. He finds ways to be effective in each part of the game. The biggest area Haddock has to improve upon over the next year and a half is on defense.
