Ashland, Christian Brothers, Northwood, Hillsdale and Fairmont State have all offered the 6-foot-5 small forward.
“They all came about two weeks ago, actually,” said Batte, who mentioned some low-major Division I programs are still in the mix.
“I’ve been getting calls and letters from Northern Kentucky and they want me to come down to play in some open gyms, and they want me to come to the individual camp as well,” said Batte.
“Miami (Ohio) has still been sending me letters too, they called me and want me to come to one of their camps this fall. I’m going to try and make it. I want to attend as many camps as possible.”
The versatile wing has been improving his game vastly thanks in large part to his decision-making, and his evolving jumper.
“The biggest thing has been my decision-making, I’ve really become a smarter player and it’s really helped me develop my game,” said Batte. “And I’ve really been working on my shot, a bunch of other players have been helping me out, and it’s gotten a lot better.”
Last season as a junior with the Highlanders, Batte upped his averages to 15.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
“I think I made a huge improvement from my sophomore to my junior year. My rebounding went up, my scoring went up by a lot, and I really worked on getting my teammates involved and making my teammates better,” said Batte, who is spending his 17U summer as a go-to guy with the Cincinnati Lakers.
“The spring went pretty well, we won a couple tournaments. Before the AAU season I talked to the coaches and they said they wanted me to be more of a scorer than last year, and to just be a guy that closes out games. They have the ball in my hands most of the time; at point, in the paint, and on the wing.”
Batte added: “College coaches aren’t just looking at you, but the team around you, and this summer I’m trying to help recruit players to come and play for the Lakers. And my coaches have really been good for us, and they’ve helped me out with my recruitment as well.”
