Drayton, who is a native of Bowie, has been playing competitive basketball since 6th grade. He’s a versatile combo guard who can do a little bit of everything. A sneaky athlete, Drayton is graceful in the open floor and can consistently finish above the rim.
“I’m working on off the dribble jump shots, and being a leader for this team.” Drayton stated.
Drayton first recalls being recruited by Towson last year during the summer. He went down for team camp and took a tour of the campus. Since his initial visit, he’s built a strong relationship with Tigers Head Coach Pat Skerry.
“I think I have a good relationship with coach Skerry. I talk to him almost every day,” said Drayton. “Coach (Jim) McCarthy, he just got on the coaching staff, but I’ve been talking to him a lot.”
One thing that Drayton says really appealed to Towson about him was his versatility. His ability to dribble, score, and still make others better. After his second time around at team camp this year, Drayton met with his loved ones to decide what was best for him.
“A couple days after the team camp, I sat down with my family, we had a conversation about it,” Drayton began. “That was when I decided I wanted to be at Towson.”
The fact that the campus is brand new and not far from home appealed to Drayton. He also has respect for the level of competition that the CAA features, and has built a strong rapport with Skerry and the rest of his staff. When asked what he can bring to the program, Drayton didn’t hold back.
“Whatever they need me to bring,” he said. “I think I can bring anything they need me to bring really.”
