He’s off to an OK start with his recruitment so far, and has heard from some D1 and D2 schools that are showing some initial interest.
“I’ve gotten some contact from University of Alabama-Huntsville. I’ve talked a little bit to Lipscomb, they’re going to come and watch me in July. And Saturday I was up at Penn, and they want me to come to their elite camp. There are some other D3 schools that are interested, but I’m not too interested in going to a D3 school at this point,” said Crump.
“I would definitely go D3 if I didn’t have D1 or D2 offers, but I’m setting the bar high – and that’s definitely the goal, is to pick up some D1 and D2 offers.”
He added: “July is the main period of AAU, and I’m just trying to catch some coach’s eyes. And even if I don’t get offered during July, I’m just trying to get it where they’ll come and watch me during the season. And they’ll at least know who I am, and I’ll be on their radar for the regular season.”
He went on to define his playing style to PHK.
“I feel like I can score from anywhere on the floor. I can shoot from deep and I can attack the hoop very well. I’d say scoring and passing are my strengths, and I like to attack the rim whenever people step-out on me — and then I just kick out to a teammate or get an easy bucket,” said Crump.
“I need to physically get bigger, my height is not bad, but I just need to build some muscle and some mass, that’s what I’m trying to work on.”
Crump was playing with Western Kentucky Elite during the spring, but says he’ll play with either Next Level (out of Ohio) or Louisville Lightning this summer. He’ll decide before July starts.
“There will be all types of different coaches there during the live periods from all levels,” said Crump. “I’m just trying to build my skill-set and give it my all, and control what I can control.”
