Continue ReadingBlake Harris, a class of 2017 point guard for Word of God, has been among the top recruits at his position across the country. Last week at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Harris was among a handful of North Carolina prospects in attendance. Given his skill, athleticism, and defensive potential, Harris should be able to make a two-way impact at the next level.
“I’m a pass first point guard. I try to get everybody involved,” Harris said. “I like to win. I like to lockdown, get steals and turn them into easy buckets.”
One of the most underrated aspects of Harris’ game has to be his defense. The long-limbed 6-foot-3 guard is super quick, and exhibits great instincts defensively. He’s very active and alert in the passing lanes, and does a great job moving his feet to stay in front of opposing ball-handlers.
“I need to work on talking more and my 3 point jump shot,” Harris said about his areas of focus heading into July’s live period.
Washington, Clemson, LSU, Ole Miss, Memphis, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Florida State, and Virginia Tech are among the schools who have offered scholarships to Harris. He says he will set up his visits after July.
A strong student in the classroom, Harris sports a 3.6 GPA. He recorded 14 points and 2 assists in a win during his first game at Top 100 Camp. No matter where he lands, Harris will likely provide almost immediate value as a solid on-ball defender and reliable facilitator.
