Westmoore Is Ready.
Looking at the talent they had last year one could think Westmoore was well on its way to contention. That talent has since turned into chemistry having the Jaguars looking sharp heading into the 2016-17. It all starts with Will Graham and his ability to handle the ball and disttribute to his teammates. Thats where sharpshooter Kody Gilland, post presence James Palmer, athletic wing Damoria Vick and small forward Trey Palmer all come into play. Westmoore has all the pieces they need to make a run at a state tournament birth.
Hornets Can Only Sting Themselves
Not too many teams on either side of the state are gonna match guard play and the size of this Booker T. Washington team. They will be able to put up points with the best of them but the bottom line is can they defend and rebound. The Hornets struggled keeping elite guards out of the paint and that is something that could potential hurt them considering their conference features Elijah Landrum, Burke Putnam, Stefone Richardson and Caleb Nero. They also took a big hit to their line up when 2018 Wing Jayscon Bereal suffered a broken hand early Friday morning and could require surgery. Although they have a strong chance to be back at ORU next March, they didn’t play to their potential this weekend.
All Hail Harrell
The Carl Albert Titans competed this weekend without 2018 shooting Guard Treyvon Hopkins and that opened up the floor for Mason Harrell to run the show. He was unstoppable in his attack. Wether driving to the rim or pulling up from deep, Harrell got any and everything he wanted. Bryce Mooreland also looked good alternating with Harrell at the point and each get some time playing off the ball. The Titans looked really good without Hopkins and one can only imagine the type of the team they will be with him.
State of the Union addressed
The Redskins are not only loaded but deep all across the board. Their big three is spearheaded by Ethan Chargois, Adrian Rodriguez and Mo Garcia. Those three are a special talent that could put 20 each night in and night out. What will surprise many as the season nears is the emergence of the guards that could see the floor. N’Kiel Jamerson was impressive all week long as a player who can get to the rim and finish with his length. The only thing standing in the way of the Redskins is the injury bug. Garcia missed the early part of the season last year and now Chargois’ time at the camp was cut short after he tweaked his knee. The Redskins could do a lot of damage this year if they can stay healthy.
Tigers Hunting For Answers
Broken Arrow has young talented roster with depth that should allow them to be successful. Unfortunately there are many question marks within that as to who belongs where. Caleb Huffman has been a steady and reliable option at the point guard position, but with 2019 Point Guard Camryn Dennis seeing his first varsity action the team is at a crossroads. Huffman and Dennis can play at the same time, but which one will be the primary ball handler? The talent and supporting cast are all there, now it is about building chemistry with the core.
