This spring Embery has played up an age group with the 17U Oklahoma Run PWP squad on the Under Armour Circuit. He averaged 10.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game this spring on the Circuit. Embery was ecstatic to hear he had been selected.
“It feels good I am blessed,” Embery said. “It makes me want to work harder. I want to be the best and this is the next step closer to getting there.”
Embery has goals heading into the Under Armour All-American Camp. He doesn’t want to just participate in the camp, but compete with the best and get better.
“My goals at the Under Armour All-American Camp are to get better,” Embery said. “To compere against other good people and learn from older people.”
Rod Thompson Oklahoma Run PWP Director and 17U Head Coach could not speak highly enough about Embery.
“It is a huge honor for Keyshawn and our program as a whole,” Thompson said. “We have been fortunate and blessed to have good kids and most importantly great parents and when you have that good things happen to your program as a whole and individually. Keyshawn has allowed himself to be coached and has brought in from day one to what we as coaches have asked him to do. I am so proud of Keyshawn and the young man that he is. He is a leader a competitor, but most importantly unselfish.”
Jermaine Simpson is the Head Coach of the 16U Oklahoma Run PWP squad, assistant on the 17U staff and Embery’s guardian. It was a very special moment for Simpson to see Embery receive the honor.
“Moments like this mean everything to see your kids rewarded for their hard work,” Simpson said. “Personally as someone who is with him everyday and works him out 3 to 4 days a week its confirmation that what we have been doing is working and motivation to get in the gym to keep working and pushing harder.”
Embery currently holds offers from several Division I programs. He could enter national rankings after the strong spring he has had. Keep a close eye for Embery in the July live periods as he has the chance to blow up on the national scene. The Under Armour All-American Camp will kick things off for Embery in July. His next stop will be Atlanta for the final Under Armour event and Embery will wrap up the July live period session with a trip to Kansas City.
