He left on Sunday a Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Champion leading Oklahoma Respect to victory in the 16U Championship Game. Island is heading into his junior season next year. He has many attributes that make him a player small colleges should have on their radar.
Island plays at small town, Calumet High School. Often times small town kids do not get the credit they deserve, but Island is using spring and summer Grassroots basketball to his advantage. Island is a skinny, long, lanky, built knock down shooting two guard.
He caught fire from three-point range throughout the weekend and never cooled off. Island may not get a bunch of attention at Calumet, but he is a player to watch for in two years when he graduates. Island will need to continue to improve his ball handling and defense over the next two years. If he can continues to work hard and progress he will make a nice small college prospect out of Calumet.
Island averaged over 20 points per game in the Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament. He was the leading scorer for the 16U Champions, Oklahoma Respect.
