Urbana offered the versatile prospect last year, and he’s been receiving interest from a slew of other D2 and NAIA programs.
“My coach has received calls, and Ashland is interested. I’ve gotten stuff from Bethel College in Indiana. Findlay has shown some interest, and Cedarville is showing some strong interest right now. That’s it as far as I know,” said Pluta.
“Recruitment is a really high priority for me right now, I’m just trying to play in college. And I’m planning on visiting Bethel within the next month.”
Able to man the paint and the perimeter, Pluta says he’ll play a stretch-four in college, and he’s most comfortable out on the perimeter.
He mentioned to PHO where it is he’s been seeing the most improvement with his skill-set.
“I’ve been working on my shooting a lot, and getting stronger and quicker. And I’ve been working on rebounding a lot, and doing a lot of defensive drills. And then I’ve also been working on my post skills as well,” said Pluta, who will again play with Ohio Unity this summer.
“They just want me to really give them my all every game. We don’t really have a certain role for each player, all of us can play. Some of my personal goals are to just get more offers and win games.”
And with Pluta, the determination to improve his game is evident.
“I’m still trying to improve on my rebounding a lot, that’s what a lot of coaches say I need to work on if I want to get more offers,” he said. “And then this summer I’d like to get a quicker release on my jump-shot.”
