Here are two links to videos done from the event:
2018
Louisiana Lightning
Corey Johnson 6’1 PG – Johnson has shown throughout the summer just how well he runs a team. When he decides to take over a game, even without scoring, there is very little opponents can do to stop it. Certainly one to watch going forward.
David Robinson 6’3 W – Robinson has come into his own since an ankle injury slowed him early in the summer. On the court there is nothing he isn’t capable of doing and off he’s just as limitless. A high IQ player that will continue to blossom as he figures it out.
Elfrid Payton Elite
Farontay Banks 6’0 G – Banks was one of the most impressive players on the weekend. When he wanted to get into the lane, he did. He consistently made outside shots and showed off his athleticism play after play. Especially on the defensive end where he was dominant on or off the ball.
Devaughn Thomas 6’5 W – Thomas showed off multiple facets of his game this post Sunday and it led to one of his most consistent performances we’ve seen. Whether it was knocking down jumpers or finishing above the rim in transition, Thomas made big plays.
Jimel London 5’8 PG – London was tough to take off the court for EP Elite this weekend. When he’s out there, as a coach, there is nothing to worry about. He runs the show as well as anyone in the state and his increased scoring focus, opened up the game even more.
Terrance Joseph 6’4 W – Joseph out of Helen Cox continues to improve his game and stock. He has everything you’d want out of a wing or forward and as his game begins to refine, he’ll soar up the rankings. Did a lot of the little things for EP Elite this weekend.
Azahren Ernest 6’6 F – Ernest is too quick for most post players and too big and strong for smaller players. He showed off great footwork and touch from 12 foot and in. Made the right pass when doubled and commanded the glass on both ends. Game is evolving and we’ve seen his range as well.
2019
Louisiana Elite
Larenz Williams 6’4 F – Renz Williams did all he could to battle against the size he saw as he was asked to man the post. As a hyper athlete, he was able to finish around the rim despite the bigger players of EP Elite and showed his ability to handle the ball in the open court.
Jourdan Smith 6’3 G – Smith’s all around game improves every time you see him. He doesn’t lack anywhere and has the athleticism and skill set to be one of the better players in the class when it’s all said and done. He is very tough off the dribble.
Elfrid Payton Elite
Jordan Wright 6’4 G – Even with foul trouble, Wright proved why he is the best player in the state and will be a nationally ranked player. He’s built like a grown man and his athleticism is blossoming. Scored at will and set up teammates as well as anyone in the tournament.
Tylan Pope 6’5 F – Pope was a monster inside with a very advanced offensive game around the goal. Wasn’t afraid to put it on the floor and was able to power through anyone who tried to get in his way. The bounce is there and the touch is incredible.
Norris Williams Jr. 6’0 PG – When Wright got in foul trouble, it was up to Norris to keep the ship afloat and he did so admirably. They extended the lead under his guidance and he hit shots when needed. Can score from multiple levels and does his job on defensive end.
