Trae Young Wins Mr. Prep Hoops Oklahoma
The Prep Hoops Oklahoma 2015-2016 Player of the Year is Norman North 2017 Point Guard Trae Young. Young averaged 34.2 points, 4.6 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game, shooting 40 percent from 3-point range.
Throughout the year Young proved any doubters he had wrong. He led Norman North to the Class 6A State Championship game. Young is an elite three-point shooter with in the gym range. Often Young’s ability to find teammates with sharp passes gets overlooked.
Opponents did everything they could to stop him. From face guarding to double teams and at times even triple teams. Young responded to each challenge continuing to make plays for the Timberwolves.
Nearly every college in the country is in hot pursuit of his talents. Although, Young is a junior this might be the last high school season he plays in Oklahoma. Young is considering attending Prep School next season.
The numbers Young posted this season put him in an elite family. Young made sure Oklahoma took notice with his consistent play throughout the year. He had some of the best single game performances Oklahoma has ever seen. The top performance for Young this season was against Yukon on February 12, 2016. Young scored 60 points nailing 12 three-pointers.
Young adds Prep Hoops Oklahoma Player of the Year to the long list of his awards this year.
