Continue ReadingSaikou Gueye was an integral part of a Mountain Ridge team that ranked among the best in AIA Division-I the entire season. With averages of 12 points and 7 rebounds, his versatility allowed him to be effective in numerous areas, especially on the defensive end.
“The season went great,” started Gueye.
An athletic forward with a lot of intriguing physical traits, the 6’6″ swingman’s ability to defend multiple positions is a major key to his game. While he played primarily at the 4-5 spot due to his size, he has the ability to attack the rim off the bounce and finish at the basket. While he’s physically appealing to college coaches, Sakiou’s ball skills are what need development and he has already started to do that.
“The thing I improved the most on was being able to pass the ball.”
Gueye expects to continue improving throughout the spring as he is competing with Arizona Power Factory.
“This upcoming spring should be the best one yet. (I’m) excited to travel places I’ve never been.”
Factory will compete in Las Vegas this weekend at the Pangos Spring Spectacular ahead of attending the Pangos Sweet 16 in southern California the following weekend.
So far Northern Colorado is the only school to offer Saikou a scholarship while Portland State, Utah State, and Weber State have all shown interest.
Though he has yet to select a major, Gueye is a strong student with a 3.0 GPA who expects to make a decision following his senior season.
