Wilson was very excited to pick up his first offer following the opening weekend of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. He is coming off a great high school season in which he helped Edmond North to a State Tournament appearance.
“It feels amazing,” Wilson said. “I feel like all the hours have finally started to pay off and right now I’m just anxious to get back on the court.”
The first weekend of the Nike EYBL was a learning experience for Wilson. The opening weekend is stressful, but add that it was in New York City the mecca of basketball.
“It was a learning experience,” Wilson said. “There is always a learning curve the first tournament especially with the competition. There is nothing like the EYBL. Add to the fact it was in Brooklyn and I can’t remember a more genuinely fun experience playing ball than last weekend.”
Wilson has big goals for Team Griffin’s second weekend in the EYBL. On Friday, Team Griffin and Wilson got off to a great start with a win over Pro Skills. Wilson dropped 13 points on 4-6 shooting from the floor.
“To win all of our games first and foremost,” Wilson said. “Individually I’d like to improve off of my showing last week and play a lot better because I think I can on both ends of the floor.”
Wilson has a good idea of what he is looking for in a school. Division I has been a long time dream of Wilson and now he will have the opportunity to play at the Division I level.
“I’m looking for a good fit for me,” Wilson said. “I’m not worried about proximity to home and what not. I’m more concerned in finding a program who wants me and wants to help me become the best I can be while getting a quality degree.”
If Wilson can duplicate his performance from Friday night in Team Griffin’s victory over Pro Skills he will pick up more offers. He has a chance to have a huge summer for Team Griffin on the Nike EYBL Circuit.
