He’s recently seen a surge in his recruitment, and says there are a slew of Division II and low-major Division I programs in contact with him.
“My recruitment has been picking up a lot recently. In the last couple of weeks I’ve heard from Wright State, Valparaiso, IUPUI, Duquesne, Cedarville, and Ashville. I’ve been on a visit to Cedarville and Wright State, and Northern Kentucky has asked me to come on a visit,” said Saben.
“I think Wright State and Cedarville have probably been after me the most, and talking with me the most.”
The talented guard recently finished up a very nice junior season where he averaged 17.8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game.
He defined his playing style to PHO, and what it is that makes his so successful.
“My biggest strength is attacking the basket and creating my own shot, and creating for others. This year I found my mid-range shot and I shot the 3-ball pretty well,” said Saben.
“I’ve been working on my pull-up game and overall just attacking people and hitting shots in their face.”
Currently Saben is sitting out the spring tournaments on the 17U circuit and working with a trainer while also letting his sore back get back to 100 percent.
“I had some back injuries toward the end of my junior season, so I’m just working out with a trainer and getting my body right,” said Saben. “Towards the end of the season my back was just hurting, and I went to the doctor and went through some physical therapy. It’s better now.”
He’ll join a 17U team come July when the next wave of live periods roll around, but has not decided which team he’ll play with.
“When July gets here I’ll just need to play my best game,” said Saben. “And hopefully pick up a couple of offers, and get that weight off my shoulders.”
