Kentucky’s 44th-ranked 2017, Baker has had a spotty high school career, which included a transfer, and then a move to Meade County the next season. Leaving his recruitment skimpy so far.
His intentions are to change that this summer.
“My plan this AAU season is to just try and rack up as many offers as I can. My high school coach tells me that Kentucky Wesleyan was looking at me, but I haven’t received any mail or anything,” said Baker.
“I feel like I’m a little bit under the radar. It could be because I sat out my sophomore year because of a transfer, and then my junior season I moved to Meade County and it’s in the middle of nowhere.”
Baker says he enjoys being a garbage guy for his high school and AAU teams, and defined his playing style to PHK.
“I like offensive rebounding, running the floor and just trying to get open, and cutting to the basket. Something I need to work on is extending my range. I stay after school and get shots up up, pull-up jump shots and everything,” said Baker, who is playing with Next Level 17U this offseason.
“I’m just looking to rebound and just be the garbage man really, and whenever I can take someone off the dribble I will. I just need to do a little bit of everything. I’m just going to play hard and hopefully win the state tournament with my team.”
Playing hard and winning games is great, but Baker says his recruitment is his top priority this spring and summer.
”My recruitment is my number one priority, I just want to get to a good college and play some ball at the next level,” he said. “So I’m working as hard as I can to make that possible.”
