“I felt like the season went really well individually and as a team, although it didn’t end how we imagined,” started Woods. “I feel like as a team what improved the most was our bond. We were really together and had a great amount of trust in each other.
The 6’0” point guard averaged 23 points, 8 assists, and 2 steals and, while he has long been the top player on Apollo’s roster, he felt he took big steps this season.
“I believe my leadership sky rocketed from the prior two seasons.”
Leadership is definitely a quality he will need to have this spring as Holland has been competing with Phoenix Phamily.
He stated that he is looking to “see how well we play, as all of us are the stars of our high school teams, and figure out how to become very competitive and have a shot at the Peach Jam Finals.”
The Phamily took a step in that direction, finishing 2-1 this weekend in Brooklyn with blow out wins over RM5 Elite and The Family.
So far Long Island and Portland have offered Woods.
“NAU, ASU, UCLA, U of A, and a few other Big Sky (schools)” were all mentioned as programs that have shown interest.
“What I’m looking for in a school is a place where I think I could be able to live and be able to get a good amount of playing time as a freshman. I anticipate making my decision right before the start of the 2016-2017 season.”
Holland made sure to make note that he has had a lot of support which has helped him to gain success throughout his career.
“I’d just like to thank my dad for always being there to celebrate me while I’m up but, more importantly, be there to pick me up when I am down. I just want him to know that none of this would be possible without him! Also, I want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to play this game.”
Woods has yet to take the ACT or SAT but plans to soon.
