The sharpshooting junior will play with Illinois Bears this spring and summer, and try and add to his current lengthy list of suitors.
“The schools that are showing the most interest are Belmont, Davidson, South Dakota State, Southeast Missouri State, Lipscomb, and South Carolina-Upstate,” said English.
“Just a little bit of everything from all the schools; phone calls, text messages, letters, coming to my school and watching practices.”
Kentucky’s’ 15th-ranked 2017, English mentioned which of the bunch he feels may be closest to extending an offer.
“I feel like SEMO is probably pretty close to offering, and then Belmont and South Dakota State have been close behind SEMO, and then Davidson maybe too. But SEMO definitely has been reaching out the most — almost every single day, calling and texting.”
As a good-sized guard who can shoot it, it’s no secret why he’s such an intriguing prospect. He defined his playing style to PHK.
“Mostly my ability to shoot from distance is what I’m best at,” he said. “And when people try and take away my 3-point shot, I have the ability to put the ball on the floor and finish.”
“I do need to get a little stronger and a little more physical when I’m taking it to the rim, so I can finish through contact.”
English has been starting with the Tigers’ varsity since his freshman season, and says his role this season has been to just do a little bit of everything.
“They expect me to put up numbers everywhere on the state sheet,” said English. “They need me to score a lot, and rebound, just a little bit of everything. They need me to be one of the main components of the team.”
