A 5-foot-11 shooting guard, Back — who plays with George Hill Rising Stars in the summer — says his recruitment has already started.
He says he’s heard from one Ivy League school, and one Iowa NAIA.
“There’s a few small schools, not really anything big. Brown called me, and Northwestern College in Iowa. They both emailed me and saw me through the Field Level app,” said Black, who mentioned what his goals are for his upcoming 15U season.
“I just want to win tournaments, and play the best I can and get better. Hopefully I get some good offers to go play at the next level.”
Black mentioned that shooting is definitely his best skill right now, and he’ll work to improve some other guard skills this offseason.
“I’m more of a 3-point shooter, I’ll take it to the rim if I have a big-man guarding me, but most of my game is a 3-point shot,” said Black.
“I probably need to work on my defense and ball-handling, I need to try and get those a little stronger.”
With his freshman campaign coming to an end, Back — who averaged 13 points per game for the Commodores — reflected on his season.
“I’ve played pretty good, I’ve been more of a scorer on the team, if we need a 3 they’ll come to me,” said Back. “And there’s a bunch of plays set up for me to shoot the ball.”
