Our 19th-ranked player in the class, McCloud says he’s yet to see any interest whatsoever from colleges.
As the 6-foot-6 small forward embarks on an important 17U season with Next Level, he’s hopeful and confident his recruitment status can change — from under the radar, to on the map.
“No letters, and nothing really so far. I think about it sometimes, but not a lot,” said McCloud.
“This summer I expect a lot of coaches to come and talk to me. I’m hoping so.”
McCloud plays plenty down in the post during high school ball, and more so on the wing during grassroots ball. He explained his playing style to PHK.
“Being able to attack the rim is what I’m best at. I’m working to improve my ball-handling and my jumper for sure. I do a lot of ball-handling workouts, and form-shooting — stuff like that.”
After transferring into Jeffersontown from Doss this season, McCloud was only able to play half of his junior campaign.
“I sat out most of my junior season, I came back midway through. My role was just to go out there and put up points,” he said. “But it was a little rough coming back after that, I thought I played alright towards the end of the season.”
