The 5-foot-11 freshman will spend his 15U campaign playing with new program NKY Force, which will play its inaugural season this spring and summer.
Though his recruitment is still in its infancy, he’s seen very initial interest from one Indiana Division I program so far — but hopes he can see some serious recruitment as the year unfolds.
“In the summer I had Butler come and talk to my coach about having me come to campus, but that’s really the only one I’ve talked to so far. They saw me play in a Louisville tournament last summer,” said Bruner, who mentioned his offseason goals to PHK.
“My offseason goals are to just get better at everything really, and try and improve on everything really. I’m hoping my recruitment picks up a bit during the summer, either that or during my sophomore year.”
Bruner missed six weeks early in his freshman season due to a strained muscle in his leg, but was able to come back and make an impact with three different teams.
“For the freshman I was starting point guard, and JV too,” said Bruner. “And for varsity I was the first or second guy off the bench.”“
Bruner went on to define his playing style to PHK.
“I’m really aggressive and I’m good at taking people off the dribble — and I can finish pretty well. I feel like I have good ball-handling, and I can pursue pretty well too,” he said.
“I need to work on defense, so that I don’t get bored out there on defense. And I’ll need to work on my shooting a little bit this offseason.”
