“It can be very frustrating at times playing in a game that is so guard driven,” said Coulter. “But if you don’t place all your values on points then you can produce so many other ways like block shots, rebounds, assists, hustle plays. I think it just depends on what kind of teammate you are.”
Coulter is a forced to be reckoned with in the paint. He stand at 6’7” and weighs a solid 230 pounds and uses his size well. In his senior campaign, Coulter averaged 27 points and 11 rebounds.
He gets his nightly production from being strong in the post making sure he catches the ball in good position. Once he has the ball, it only takes the big man a few powerful dribble before he is finishing over either shoulder. Although Coulter already puts up big numbers, he still is looking to polish his game to be more complete.
“I know I need to work on my ball handling to stretch my game further away from the basket,” Coulter expressed. “Also I need to expand my shot selection to keep defenders guessing and finishing better at the rim in traffic.”
Coulter is a hungry player that is looking to get better each and everyday. That hunger and drive is partially what has him leaning more towards going the JUCO route. Although receiving heavy interest from Division II schools, Coulter says his game is still very raw and is look for the right program to mold him into a dominant big man.
“I think it will help develop my game and really push me in the right direction,” Coulter said. “I know the goals that I have set for myself and I know they’re still achievable if I work hard.”
Coulter is currently considering Ranger College (TX), Conners State College (OK), and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
Coulter is a big time talent that can be productive immediately at the Junior College level. He is a high volume scorer but is versatile and can adjust to any assigned role. Coulter has the potential to be a Division I prospect in years to come.
