Meet The Hines
Fort Cobb won the Class B State Championship last season under the leadership of Head Coach Scott Hines. He had done it before, but this time it was even more special with his oldest son Cameron being on the team. Fast forward a year later and Coach Hines added another son to the mix.
Fort Cobb won the Class A State Championship on Saturday with three Hines involved. Coach Scott Hines, junior guard Cameron Hines, and freshmen guard Kellen Hines led the Mustangs to a State Title. The moment was very special for the family.
“We have been dreaming about this since we were little kids coming to watch games at the Big House,” said Cameron Hines. “It is super special. No better feeling in my life. It is unexplainable. To have him (Kellen) on it, at the end of the game I couldn’t help but to tear up.”
Coach Hines has coached his kids since they were little. Today is a day he will never forget.
“It is unbelievable you can’t put it into words,” said Coach Hines. “I know how hard they worked and I know what it means to them. All there hard work has paid off.”
Becky Hines is the mother of the two Hines boys and the wife of Scott. Although, Becky is not coaching the team on the floor she may have one of the toughest jobs. She keeps the family in line off the court and cheers as loud as she can for the Fort Cobb Mustangs. By the end of the game Saturday Becky didn’t have much of a voice, but was as happy as she has ever been for her three young men.
“It is really emotional,” said Becky Hines. “It just gives you a really good feeling to know they have worked for so hard for such a long time and to be able to win the championship together is amazing.”
Fort Cobb finished the season with a record of 28-2 and as Class A State Champions. The only losses for Fort Cobb on the season came against Class 6A Union and Class 5A El Reno.
