The Matchups
Stuart vs Pond Creek Hunter 2:00pm
Velma-Alma vs OKAY 3:30pm
Fort Cobb vs Regent Prep 7:00pm
Seiling vs Rattan 8:30pm
The team to watch is certainly Fort Cobb. The Mustangs enter under Head Coach Scott Hines as the overwhelming favorite. With that said Braden Bayless along with several young standouts at Regent Prep won’t be an easy first round opponent. The crazy thing is Regent Prep made the state tournament despite not being ranked. Stuart and Pond Creek Hunter is an interesting game to kick things off with both teams returning to the state tournament this year. OKAY has had a huge season and enters as a slight favorite over Velma-Alma.

Players to Watch
Greyden Steinmetz 2017 Fort Cobb Shooting Guard
Steinmetz will wow you with his talents if you have not had the chance to see him this year. Yes, he goes to a Class A school, but that doesn’t mean he can’t play. He is a good shooter that when hot is virtually unstoppable at this level. I would look for Steinmetz to have a HUGE weekend at the Big House.
Cameron Hines 2017 Fort Cobb Point Guard
Hines is a Point Guard on the rise in the 2017 Class in Oklahoma. He has a good handle, great vision, and a nice stroke from the outside. Hines is the leader of Fort Cobb and is a big reason the Mustangs have played so well this season.
Kellen Hines 2019 Fort Cobb Point Guard
Hines is the youngest player on the Players to Watch list in Class A, but may end up being the most talented. The kid can flat out shoot the basketball from three-point range. The scariest thing of all for opponents is he is just a freshmen! If you have yet to see Hines play go out to the Big House and enjoy the show.
Braden Bayless 2017 Regent Prep Forward
Bayless is a player who has flown under the radar at Regent this season. He has had a great junior season leading Regent to State. Bayless has good size for Class A around 6’5.” He is working to improve his jump shot, but certainly is a force in the paint. Bayless will be a player we will watch closely at State.
Cole Jones 2018 Pond Creek-Hunter Point Guard
Jones has been spectacular this year for Pond Creek-Hunter! He had a big freshmen season scoring the basketball at a high level as a combo guard. Jones is a volume shooter that can fill it up in a hurry. One impressive stat is that Jones is already over the 1,000 point mark for his high school career with still two seasons remaining. Jones could use his experience last year at State to make a deep run this year.
