Blake Griffin Partners with Former AAU Team
Blake Griffin announced Tuesday he is partnering with the AAU team he grew up playing with in Oklahoma. Formerly known as Athletes First, the new Team Griffin will compete in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, one of the most prestigious AAU circuits in the country that provides exposure to the top NCAA coaches and scouts.
Team Griffin will be outfitted in Jordan apparel and SuperFly 4’s, Griffin’s preferred Jordan shoe. Griffin has been endorsed by Jordan since 2012.
Being able to give back to Oklahoma means a lot for Griffin. He grew up in Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma in college.
“Playing for Athletes First was pivotal in my basketball career and I am proud to take my involvement with this program to the next level,” said Griffin. “I am extremely grateful for Jordan Brand’s support, and know that Team Griffin will continue the legacy of Athletes First under Gary Vick’s guidance.”
Longtime Executive Director of Athletes First Gary Vick is excited to have Griffin apart of the program.
“Blake’s support is a huge endorsement for our program and a testament to his commitment to the Oklahoma basketball community,” said Vick.
Team Griffin will host tryouts for ages 14-17 for no fee. Call 405-476-5072 to sign up for the try out.
